Understanding Google Reviews Data Limitations
Learn what Google Reviews data is accessible in Analyse and what platform limitations affect visibility and analysis. Google Reviews are an essential source of customer sentiment for businesses with physical locations. Analyse integrates this data for reputation monitoring, but access is governed by limitations tied to Google’s My Business API.
What Google Reviews Data Is Available?
When your Google Business Profile is connected, Analyse can access the following:
- Customer review text submitted to your owned locations
- Star ratings (1–5) associated with each review
- Timestamps of when reviews were posted
- Reviewer display names and profile pictures (if available via the API)
- Location-level filtering for businesses with multiple branches
Each location must be individually connected through your Google Business account.
What Google Reviews Data Is Not Available?
The following review types and metadata are not accessible in Analyse:
- Reviews for third-party businesses or competitor listings
- Private messages or internal feedback (not published on Google)
- Reviewer contact information
- Flagged or deleted reviews
- Historical reviews older than Google’s API retention period (may vary)
Best Practices for Google Reviews Integration
- Connect all relevant Google Business locations for complete visibility
- Respond to negative reviews directly on your Google Business Profile to affect public sentiment
- Use location filtering to identify problem areas or standout performance
