Understanding LinkedIn Data Limitations

Learn what data Analyse can access from LinkedIn and what restrictions apply due to platform and API policies. LinkedIn is a powerful platform for B2B brand engagement, but access to its data is highly restricted. This article explains what LinkedIn data is available in Analyse and what is not supported due to platform limitations.

What LinkedIn Data Is Available?

If your LinkedIn Company Page is authorised, Analyse can access a limited set of data:

  • Comments on posts published by your authorised LinkedIn Company Page

  • Post metadata, such as post date, type, reactions count, and comment count

  • Public comments from users on your company posts

You must have admin access to the LinkedIn Page to complete authorisation and pull data.

What LinkedIn Data Is Not Available?

LinkedIn has some of the strictest limitations of any major platform. The following data types are not accessible in Analyse:

  • Mentions of your brand on non-owned or personal LinkedIn profiles

  • Posts or comments from LinkedIn Groups

  • Hashtag tracking or keyword monitoring across the wider platform

  • Private messages (InMail or DMs)

  • Posts from employees or individuals, even if they mention your brand

Best Practices for LinkedIn Integration

  • Authorise your LinkedIn Company Page as soon as it's live to begin data collection

  • Focus on monitoring engagement with your owned posts (e.g. comments, likes)

  • Encourage team members to repost via the Company Page when visibility tracking is needed

  • Reauthorise after password or admin role changes to avoid data sync interruptions
